Rob Stevenson

Director

 Rob graduated in 1984 and commenced working as a Physiotherapist at Central Gippsland Hospital in Traralgon. In his second year he was appointed as a Grade 2 Physiotherapist in a Rehabilitation position and commenced consolidating his interest in all aspects of physiotherapy rehabilitation management. He worked at the Traralgon Hospital till late September 1986.  After a trip to Europe he joined with Geoff and began the business Latrobe Valley Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine Clinic.

Over this time Rob has enjoyed being involved as a physiotherapist working with athletes involved with,

  • Traralgon Football Club, Gippsland Football League and Victorian Football League.
  • Morwell Falcons Soccer Club, National Soccer League.
  • Gippsland Regional Soccer Team, Country Championship.
  • Victorian Junior Tennis Championship, Traralgon.
  • Traralgon Swimming Club.
  • Gippsland Sports Academy.

Along with this are the many athletes and general patients that have required physiotherapy management and advice for their injuries over the last 31 years.

Rob will assess you and learn from you how your problem affects you functioning at home, at work or in your sports participation. He will use his expertise to objectively assess your problem and will work with you to help you understand your diagnosis. A clear direction for the best course of physiotherapy will be provided.  Your management will include an understanding of the strategies that you can undertake to manage your problem and prevent recurrence.

Qualifications

  • 1984 : Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy – Lincoln Institute
  • 1995 : Graduate Diploma in Exercise and Sports Science  – Victoria University
  • 2005 : Graduate Certificate in Ergonomics  – Queensland University

Geoff Thomas

Director

Geoff is a Director and Physiotherapist practicing in both our Traralgon and Moe Clinics.

Geoff graduated in 1984 and commenced work as a physiotherapist at Gippsland Base Hospital in Sale working for 2 years before travelling with Rob for 4 months around Europe.

After this break Geoff and Rob were involved in establishing the existing business, Latrobe Valley Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine Clinic, 31 years ago.

In the time Geoff has worked in the Latrobe Valley he has enjoyed working with various sporting clubs and organisations.  These include:

  • Gippsland Representative Basketball
  • Moe and Hill End Football Clubs
  • Victorian Junior Tennis Championship Traralgon
  • Gippsland Sports Academy.

Geoff enjoys the challenge of finding what factors cause and why conditions occur, and then working with the client to achieve the best possible functional outcome for home, work or sporting pursuits.  Central to this is the understanding of what are the key reasons for the client’s present condition and how best this is tackled either through direct treatment, referral to other medical specialist, advice and treatment and how the client can best help with either exercise or modified activity.

David Thomas

David graduated from Latrobe University in Bendigo in 2019 and started his career at Latrobe Regional Hospital in 2020. He then spent just over a year there before transitioning into private practice and starting at Latrobe Valley Physiotherapy in 2021. Being a local guy he jumped at the opportunity to join such a knowledgeable and well regarded team as the one at Latrobe Valley Physiotherapy.David has a keen passion for all things sports related and loves working with athletes all of skills and ages. David has a special interest in all thing shoulders as well as lower limb injuries and helping people get back to what they enjoy doing whether that be walking the dog or playing their favourite sport.

David will assess you and helps to identify what may be causing your problems and then working with you to outline your goals and how best to achieve them. He does this with a combination of exercise, advice and hands on treatment. David has a keen interest in helping those who may be attempting to avoid surgery to see if a non-surgical path may be suitable (think rotator cuff injuries of Knee/ Hip arthritis that may require a replacement).
